A mother has been left heartbroken after her child died when she was allegedly left alone in a hot car. Police said the family’s babysitter Tammie Brooks pictured in the photo above picked up two year old Zariah Hasheme at 6:30 on Tuesday and was meant to drop her off at Nursery but instead drove to work. Brooks who is 41 years old of Hobbs in New Mexico has been arrested and accused of leaving the child in the car resulting in her death. Zariahs mother, Demi Petrowski said she had 6 miscarriages before conceiving her toddler.
The child was left unattended in a car seat for several hours until Brooks realized the child was still in the car after running an errand police said. Paramedics were called to the scene about 1:27 p.m., but the toddler couldn’t be saved. The temperature in New Mexico with a child locked inside of a vehicle was staggeringly devastating.
Brooks has been charged with abandonment or abuse of a child resulting in death. The medical examiner will now conduct an autopsy at the little girl’s body. The girl’s parents, Demi Petrowski and Zachary Hasheme told station KOB 4 that Brooks was babysitting Zariah. Ms. Petrowski told the station she has 6 miscarriages before giving birth to her miracle baby. She states that she remembers praying every single day non-stop she said. She goes on to say that she would not wish this pain and this hurt upon her worst enemy. A GoFundMe page has been established to pay for Zariahs is funeral.
