An all too familiar quote is circulating around the web. Basically it says, #prayfororlando
But pray to whom? The god who allowed this to happen or???? What exactly do you say to a god who sat idly by while 50+ lives were taken today. Looks to me like this terrorist had more power to take a life than god had to save one. And you will read the story below where the shooters father says it had nothing to do with religion. I BEG to differ sir. Because where else did your wholesome son learn to hate gays? Are you sure it wasn’t from the Quaran? Are you sure it wasn’t from the bible? Because why else would a person hate gays other than a book telling them to. Another case of religion causing a massive amountof senseless tragedies. That’s why I’m Atheist.
Orlando, Florida
Location, Downtown Orlando at Pulse club.
Today at approximately 2:00 a.m. THEY became THE VICTIM of A Domestic TERRORIST attack. This was not a hate crime in the sense that the attacker hated gays. That would make this too simple. This is more complex. This attacker hated freedom. He hated the ideals that America stands for. He hates the purpose of the American flag and the American Agenda. This wasn’t some crazed person who felt rejected by society and wanted gays to pay for their crimes against his god. This was an act of terror. This person had a van parked outside of the club that was filled with ammunition. That means he planned to do more harm. It was reported by a club goer that there were 2 men shooting, however, most reports show it as only one. I’m inclined to believe that there were indeed 2 shooters. Now yes it is stated that the assailant actually used 2 guns to shoot, automatic assault rifles to be exact. I believe that there were 2 because it was the first account of a lucid bystander.
Pulse is known as a gay club. So immediately everyone assumes it’s a hate crime against the gay community. What it really is. It’s an attack on liberty. The club was chosen because it is obscure, as many clubs are. The part of them being attacked because they are gay isn’t far fetched, but in reality gay was a motivation, but only for the fact that they knew how America would respond to such a report. Gay club goers shot to death doesn’t hurt so much as church members on their knees praying being killed. America still has much higher work to do when it comes to equality, but it is making strides. This club isn’t known for having high armed security. It’s a group of happy individuals who were just looking to laugh and enjoy their weekend. The gay community are simply the best. They are a group of non judgemental folks who simply want their rights to live and love as they please.
Why them? Because it was an easy target. An enclosed building is easier to accumulate more fatalities than an outdoor venue, unless of course you are setting off bombs. In which of course the shooter at this club did have a bomb attached to him. It was disengaged by the officers at the scene. A controlled explosion to be more precise.
This guy isn’t mental. And naturally it’s easy to realize that this was calculated. Unfortunately if he knew his numbers were so small, he’d be disappointed.
Our country is extremely religious. So I doubt today from the millions of pulpits across America that there will be many condolences. I’m certain there will be some, but not nearly as much as was given for the Paris concert goers. Many religious folks will say it was gods wrath and that the club is something of a Sodom and Gomorrah and deserved what they got. As some sort of punishment from a higher power. There won’t be as much compassion. But there are plenty who love and support the LGBT community and much love will be expressed.
There will be much debate in regards to hate crime versus Terrorism. Listen, terrorism is hate. It’s just usually religious based. Kind of like the home grown terrorist group we have right here in America known as the KKK. They are organized and base all of their beliefs from the bible. And it’s full of caucasians. So before we jump on the bandwagon and start attacking people of color from the middle east who are Muslim, let’s remember that MUSLIM comes in all shapes and colors. There are white, Latinos, Asian, Black, all races could have a faithful Muslim following. So don’t stereotype.
The FBI is investigating this crime as a terrorist attack and that’s exactly what it is.
People want to give a direct correlation to the death of Christina Grimmie. But her death was from a crazy fan who simply wanted her dead and wanted his name attached to her. He shot her then killed himself, she died later that day in the hospital. It was the crime that happened the day before the massacre at Pulse. Orlando is not crime ridden. Terrorism knows no destination. It knows convenience. Club owners need to play close attention to its doors and security policy. People will hold this club responsible for these deaths. They will be judged to see what could have been done to avoid this. It is understood that a few employees of the club lost their lives in this senseless crime.
This is also NOT a time to attack our gun control laws. For goodness sakes. I cannot stress enough that we need a complete overhaul of gun purchasing in America. BUT I agree that we should always maintain our right to bear arms. We earned that right. There is a lot of anger that NO ONE at the club was armed. Well most citizens have a right to not carry. It’s a club and they were having fun. It’s not unlikely. But it is something to think about. It’s not good when only the criminals have guns. The same was said for the party in California where the attacker knew that every one would be unarmed. He killed many innocent people who were powerless to defend themselves. They weren’t allowed to carry a weapon inside the building, yet he was. Something is wrong with that picture.
We do need to look at how people attain weapons though. No more online sells and stricter laws at gun shows. Will that alleviate the problem? Hell no, it won’t do a damn thing. Of course if someone wants you dead, they will find a way. Stricter laws will simply be as good as a restraining order. It’s just a piece of paper. It will enforce nothing. Criminals will still have access to weapons. But we need to modify how gun owners rights are expressed. To be able to open carry with many exclusions doesn’t provide for a lot of freedoms.
the shooter has been identified as 29 year old, Omar Mir Seddique Mateen.
He was an American citizen who resided in Port St. Lucie. The supposed motivation behind the shooting according to his father Mir Seddique, that Mateen had seen two men kissing in Miami Florida and it angered him. His father classified him as “anti gay”. He was married before but was divorced after his ex wife’s father in law rescued his daughter from an abusive relationship. His ex classified him as “unstable ” The FBI states that he was on their radar back in 2014 and 2015. But also that they didn’t have information to continue any investigating, so the case was dropped. It was not released as of yet what the investigation entailed. Mateen was a security officer and also had a degree in Criminal Justice. He was trained in the use of weapons.
His father states that his son did not commit this crime because of religion, but because of his dislike for the gay community. I find this to be total bullshit. This sounds like a terrible cop out. This was a subtle attack just like the attack on Pearl Harbor from the Japanese. But if you soften the blow by saying it’s just gays that he hated and not all Americans, then there’s less chance of a major attack from America to Afghanistan. But people will digest the attack on homosexuality easily. After all, it is forbidden in most religions. And we know how millions of Americans feel about homosexuality.
Update : Omar Mir Seddique Mateen had been investigated before.
The FBI first became aware of Mateen in 2013, where he made inflammatory comments at co-workers alleging possible terrorist ties. The FBI thoroughly investigated the matter, including interviews with witnesses, physical surveillance and records checks. In the course of the investigation, Mateen was interviewed twice. Ultimately, we were unable to verify the substance of his comments and the investigation was closed.
The investigator also stated that in 2014, Mateen again came to the attention of the FBI because of possible ties with to an American suicide bomber, where they interviewed Mateen and determined that the contact was minimal and did not constitute as a threat at the time.
In Sunday press conference it was confirmed that Mateen, an American citizen from Port St. Lucie, Florida, did in fact make a 911 call before the shooting, swearing his allegiance to ISIS.
If it is true that the FUCKING FBI is calling it terrorism and he called 911 just before he killed 50 people and pledged his allegiance to known terrorist group ISIS, then how in the hell is this about gay people? The gays will move forward and continue to smile, and they will have completely gotten away with killing Americans on our soil. How genius. It’s so subtle. No one suspects them at all. Dad said he hated gays, so let’s just go with that because it’s easier. But is dad being completely honest? Or does he have an agenda? You tell me.
